Rainham and Strood
Part of the £150m Network Rail East Kent route re-signalling under a hub and spoke collaborative project. Spencer Rail Engineering were awarded the civils works contract, part of which involved a new bay platform at Rainham Station together with the extension of the existing Platform 1 to enable 12 Car operations. At Strood station Platforms 2 and 3 needed lengthening and a section of Platform 1 was refurbished.

PROJECT SCOPE
Rainham:
• Constructing new bay platform and extending Platform 1 using insitu and precast concrete.
• Installing sheet pile wall and acoustic fence adjacent to the bay platform.
• Drainage works including installing attenuation tank in existing car park
• Platform lighting and PA systems, installing platform passenger structures
• Modifications to existing car park
Strood:
• Extending Platforms 2 and 3 to facilitate 12 Car operations
• Extending Platform 3 track bed to facilitate new loop line
• Modifying the drainage system to facilitate the extended platforms
• Widening the track bed including installation of sheet pile retaining wall
• Installing polystyrene platform section into Platform 1
