Airdrie-Bathgate depot
The Airdrie-Bathgate Railway Link connects Edinburgh to Glasgow through Bathgate, Drumgelloch and Airdrie. As one of the UK’s leading depot specialists, Spencer Rail Engineering was appointed by Network Rail as the principal contractor on this project that delivered the design and construction of a brand new rail depot as part of the major Bathgate to Airdrie line programme.

PROJECT SCOPE
A large part of the work involved the installation of the platform track and the erection of 6 cross-track overhead line electrification gantries, complete with gantry lighting and 8 stabling sidings. The new depot was designed and built to include a carriage wash plant facility and controlled emissions toilet facility. Further details were as follows:
• New P-way fan turnout into sidings and CWP and CET sidings
• 11Kv substation + LV substation
• Concrete hardstanding to depot entrance
• 3000m new perimeter fencing around depot
• Underground storage tanks and foul drainage outlets
• Surface water drainage, attenuation and interceptor tanks
