PROJECT SCOPE
A new concrete raft foundation was constructed to house the new portal frame structure, maximising the available space whilst also being capable of supporting the heaviest fork lift on site (24 tonnes).
Due to the close proximity of an existing Severn Trent Water sewer culvert, the new stores unit featured a chamfered edge on the South corner to allow for meeting distance requirements from the sewer.
The new CAF stores include the following features:
- An electrically operated 6m x 5.5m main roller shutter door and a smaller dual controlled 2.5m x 4m roller shutter door.
- Paxton access control on staff doors with fail safe opening if the fire alarm is activated.
- Internal CCTV covering the stores area.
- Integrated office of 4m x 5m with natural lighting.
- Modern and efficient LED lighting internally to allow for 24hour use with a natural light roof covering for daytime efficiency.
- Smartscan external lighting for movement after daylight hours and to light a pathway for evacuation.
- Heating / insulation to allow active working within the building.
- External protection barriers to prevent damage from forklifts to the walls.
- Uninterrupted floor space between the external walls.
- Heavy duty material storage racking.
- The building will include the following services; water, electricity, drainage, sewerage, surface water, and mains gas.
