Eastcroft Depot
East Midlands Railway (EMR) identified requirements for a number of enhancements to Eastcroft Depot in order to meet changing needs for stabling and cleaning of its rolling stock. Spencer Rail Engineering were appointed by EMR to design and construct the re-modelling of 4 existing sidings, provide a siding lighting scheme, 3 car train hand washing facility and extension of existing train maintenance facilities on the depot.
The Nottingham Eastcroft Depot enhancements included the design, construction, handback and entry into service of enhancements to meet the changing needs for the stabling, cleaning and maintenance of its rolling stock.
The works included a staged approach to the siding enhancements, to remodel the existing sidings to the revised layout without the need to disrupt the existing stabling demands of the depot. The works also included an installation of an S&C on road 9 for future stabling capacity enhancements.
The works were sequenced to allow the handback sidings back into service with no unplanned disruption.
The siding enhancement required the installation of 75m of track pans and associated water supply & drainage systems to allow the hand washing of
rolling stocking on Road 9.
Upon completion of the remodelling of the siding, a high-level gantry style lighting system was installed to enhance access and egress walkways to Network Rail Standards.
The works also included a 24m extension to the existing canopy & apron on the existing fuelling Road. Fuelling, tanking water and CET systems were also enhanced as part of the works.
Other enhancements during the project included removal of existing diesel delivery systems & storage tanks and removal of existing high mast lighting systems adjacent to operational infrastructure. Enhancements to existing drainage and CET primary systems. Removal of existing sidings lighting systems. Temporary Lighting systems and mains cold water system diversions.
