PROJECT SCOPE
As part of the design development, Spencer Rail Engineering undertook visual, intrusive and ground surveys, all coordinated with Virgin Trains East Coast to ensure that depot activities were not disrupted.
Site set-up and site clearance included the removal of P-way in three locations, and the modification of an existing lighting gantry, spanning roads 1,2 and 3, which required a temporary works design to enable the support column to be removed while remaining supported.
Alongside the installation of the new carriage wash facility, Spencer Rail Engineering also removed two existing roads and installed six new ones, as well as new drivers’ walkways, drainage, lighting columns and all associated M&E.
