Civil Engineering

A key part of our civil engineering capability is the delivery of lineside infrastructure. This includes signalling gantries, retaining walls, drainage systems and integrated cable routes, all designed to improve resilience and reduce long-term maintenance. We also deliver associated signalling power and support systems, alongside the installation and management of cable troughing and ducting—ensuring robust, well-coordinated solutions that support the wider rail network.

Drawing on the combined expertise of our civil and bridges teams, we deliver the refurbishment, renewal and strengthening of underbridges and overbridges. Our services include structural assessment and strengthening, bespoke access solutions in challenging environments, and the integration of bridge works with track realignments and overhead line equipment adjustments—ensuring systems continue to operate safely and efficiently as a whole.

We also deliver platform extensions, renewals and reconfigurations to support longer trains, increased capacity and improved accessibility. This includes structural repairs, resurfacing and the installation of tactile paving, coordinated with drainage improvements, lighting and shelter works to create safer, more efficient environments for passengers and station staff.

Collaboration is central to our approach. We work closely with Network Rail, Train Operating Companies and local authorities to manage interfaces and align objectives throughout delivery. With proven experience delivering multi-disciplinary rail projects that integrate permanent way, signalling, OLE and civil engineering, we carefully plan and sequence works to minimise disruption to live services—applying tailored engineering solutions that meet stakeholder needs and deliver long-term value across the rail network.
