Spencer Rail Engineering, part of The Spencer Group, is proud to announce that it has been appointed to Merseyrail’s General Construction Framework, covering all aspects of rail related infrastructure, construction and refurbishment works.
Merseyrail operates one of the busiest networks in the country, calling at 69 stations in and around Merseyside and providing critical transportation services to over 30 million passengers per year.
Spencer Rail Engineering has secured appointments to two of the framework’s three lots, positioning the business to support future projects across all stages of delivery, from project management and pre-construction through to construction and post-construction activities.
The company has been named on Lot 2, which covers projects valued between £1-3m, ranging from station improvements, larger scale safety enhancements and accessibility improvements, including lift and stairwell works alongside car park enhancements.
Spencer Rail Engineering has also been appointed to Lot 3, which covers projects valued at £2.5m+, including major station improvements, safety enhancements, new station construction as well as other large scale and complex projects across the Merseyrail network.
The framework is set to run for a duration of three years until the 20th of July, with the option to extend for a further four years in increments of 12 months.
With more than three decades of experience working across complex infrastructure projects across the rail, civil, bridges and energy sectors, Spencer Rail Engineering’s appointment to this framework underlines its reputation as a leading contractor in the industry.
Nick Lamb, Strategic Development Director at Spencer Group, said:
“We are absolutely delighted to have been awarded a place on the Merseyrail framework.
